Telangana announced EV and energy storage solution Policy 2020 - Key Highlights.

Telagana announced their EV and energy storage policy last week with an ambitious plan of making the state EV Capital and electric vehicle manufacturing hub of India. States like Delhi, Karnataka, Gujarat, Kerala etc.. have announced their ev policy recently which shows the transformation of India to electric motoring.

Telangana IT and Industries minister KT Rama Rao and Transport minister Puvvada Ajay kumar launched the policy which will be effective from 2020 to 2030. In the policy, it states " To make Telangana a major base for EV and ESS (Energy storage system) sectors and to attract investments worth 4 Billion USD and create employment for 120,000 persons by 2030 through EVs in shared mobility, charging infrastructure development and EV and ESS manufacturing activities".

Also the policy added that Generate demand for battery added solutions by driving EV adoption incentives and supply side incentives for battery manufacturing. Due to rapid growth of urbanisation and number of vehicles led to an immediate need for sustainable model for mobility and EVs emerged as one of that kind which can provide sustainable growth.

State government will facilitate to set up initial batch of charging stations in Hyderabad and some other states as phase one with public and private sectors. Also on the announcement day, Telangana govt. signed MoUs with five firms which are set to Invest in EV Space.

Key Highlights of Telangana EV Policy 2020.

  • Plans to make Telangana an attractive investment destination in EV Sector.
  • 100 Percent exemption of road tax and registration fee for 2,00,000 electric two wheelers purchased and registered in Telangana.
  • Policy for state preferred destination for electric vehicles.
  • Tax and registration fee exemption for first 5,000 commercial and private electric cars and 20,000 electric three wheelers purchased and registered within Telangana.
  • Also tax and registration fee exemption for first 10,000 electric light goods carriers and 500 e buses registered in the state.
